Detective Comics #1000 is a huge accomplishment and testament to how a hero like Batman can stand the test of time. Batman has been many things, but at the center of the character he is a detective. It is fitting that the duo that brought us The Court of Owls got selected to tell a story in this milestone issue. Synder and Capullo spend this story giving us a glimpse into the mind of the Dark Knight. We are brught along for the ride as he works to solve a mystery from one of his earliest cases. He follows the clues all over the globe and discovers that it was a test set for him by The Detectives Guild. This team consists of Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Martian Manhunter, Elongated Man and his wife Sue Dibny, The Question (Vic Sage), Detective Chimp, and the original Detective Comics protagonist Slam Bradley. All of these characters are detectives in their own right and have appeared in this series over the past 80 years. I hope to see more of this team in the future. Snyder and Capullo are the perfect team and this story is a very worthy addition to the Batman mythos. Cheers Batman! Here’s to a thousand more!
